The Tasmanian University Psychology Society (TUPS) is the official student-run society representing psychology students at the University of Tasmania.
We exist to support, connect, and advocate for students studying psychology across all campuses and modes of study. Whether you’re just starting your degree or nearing the end of your studies, TUPS is here to help you feel informed, supported, and part of a broader psychology community.
TUPS works to create opportunities for psychology students to engage with one another, the profession, and the wider community. Throughout the year, we deliver a mix of social, academic, and professional events, including:
Social events and networking opportunities
Study sessions and skills-based workshops
Guest speakers and industry engagement
Advocacy and representation on student issues
Major annual events such as Trivia Night, Psych Ball, and the AGM
Our events are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and relevant to students at all stages of their degree.
TUPS also plays an important role in representing the student voice. We regularly liaise with the School of Psychological Sciences, University staff, and TUSA to raise student concerns, provide feedback, and contribute to discussions around learning, timetabling, and student experience.
We are committed to ensuring psychology students feel heard and supported, and that their perspectives are meaningfully considered.
At the core of TUPS are a few key values:
Community – creating a welcoming space where students can connect and support one another
Inclusivity – ensuring our events and communications are accessible to all students
Professional Development – helping students explore pathways and build confidence beyond the classroom
Wellbeing – promoting mental health awareness and encouraging help-seeking and balance
